If you, or someone you know is in need of a Brooklyn Ophthalmologist, the
insight and wisdom of Dr. Zellner will prove invaluable, from around the block, or around the world.
Dr Zellner is a New York Eye Doctor with
an unparallel combination of skill, experience and courtesy.
Dr. James H. Zellner, MD, FACS is
an Ophthalmologist from NYC who has been in private practice since 1981.
Dr. Zellner was privileged to spend his first four years (1981 – 1984) as an associate of Dr. Charles Kelman, the creator
of the Phacoemulsification Technique used today to remove cataracts with the “no-stitch” surgery method.
In that capacity he not only worked with Dr. Kelman, but also taught the technique to other Resident and Attending surgeons
in assisting them to become certified.
Aside from academic pursuits, Dr. Zellner has provided community service as Past President and member of The Lions Club of Bay Ridge
for twenty years. Dr. Zellner gladly gave his time to this charity that is devoted to helping people with vision handicaps.
He also spent six years on the Board of Directors of The Lions Eye Bank for Long Island at North Shore University Hospital
where corneal transplants are handled.
He worked at the Medical Society for the County of Kings on their Mediation Committee for several years where a group of physicians would meet to resolve
doctor-patient disputes.
Dr. Zellner belongs to the NYS Medical Society, the NYS Ophthalmological Society
and the Brooklyn Ophthalmological Society, where he served as Past Program Chairman.
Dr. Zellner is a dedicated
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist who treats medical and surgical diseases of the eye. Problems such as cataracts, glaucoma, corneal
diseases, diabetic retina, macular degeneration and eyelid disorders are seen routinely. Patients who seek second opinions
and consultations are also welcome.
Dr. Zellner is an anterior segment specialist whose practice is primarily focused on surgery for cataracts, glaucoma, corneal
transplants and refractive LASIK cases. Dr. Zellner also performs surgery for eyelid conditions and traumatic injuries to
the eye and lids. In fact he served on staff at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary for 20 years, as Clinical and Surgical Instructor
for General Clinic and the Eye Trauma Service.
His new office in Brooklyn (where he has been practicing since 1984) is located on Fifth Avenue in Bay
Ridge. Dr. Zellner conveniently has office hours in the evening and weekends to accommodate the schedule of almost anyone.
The office is equipped with many high tech devices as well as sophisticated lasers to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of
a wide range of ocular disorders. He performs surgery in Manhattan, at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he is a Senior
Attending Surgeon, and in Brooklyn, at The Brooklyn Eye Surgery Center.
The office staff is
professional and friendly. You will be treated with courtesy and every attempt is made to provide prompt, efficient
service. Patients with emergencies are taken as priorities. Surgeries are generally scheduled without delay and the
office provides brochures and other educational material to help the patient better understand their condition.
